One Queer Day in Hackney

In September 2025, Hackney's queer community was invited to film a day of their lives, creating an intimate snapshot of queer people at work, at rest and in community. Guided by legendary performer Lavinia, the film weaves together documentary footage, spoken word, performance and music into a vibrant celebration of queer experience.

The resulting film is an ode to collaborative filmmaking, made on a micro-budget by a proudly trans, non-binary, queer and neurodivergent team whose love, sweat and joy seeps into the film and makes themes of resilience, connection and belonging come to life. Before the film, Lil Warren’s Maybe Moonbeam sees the Rio Cinema as a backdrop to pay homage to silent movie pioneers.
