New Queer Worlds

When the world as we know it no longer feels liveable, what might we build in its place?

Queer New Worlds brings together four speculative films that move through Afrofuturism, science fiction, fairytale and the supernatural to imagine queer and trans life beyond the boundaries of the present. Travesti friends confront grief in rural Brazil; a princess journeys across Black histories of resistance; two trans lovers question their relationship and origins on an unfamiliar shore; and fantasies of queer baby-making transform the body from within. Across myth, memory and desire these films seek new relationships to ancestry and time, asking what becomes possible when we refuse the infrastructure we have inherited and create our own.
