Fungal Kin: A Queer Fungi Walk
Saturday, 12 September
1.00 PM
Hackney Marshes
Join Bogdana Ababii for a wander through Hackney’s marshes, getting to know the fungi quietly flourishing beneath our feet, on trees and among the marsh’s’ wilder corners.
Led by Bogdana, the walk will introduce participants to the basics of fungi identification while exploring mushrooms as much more than isolated specimens. Together, we’ll consider fungi as collaborators and important allies within our shared natural-cultural ecologies, forming kinships, thriving through interdependence and challenging the boundaries between individual lives.
Expect close looking, collective learning and plenty of frolicking. No previous fungi knowledge is needed just curiosity, weather-appropriate clothing (once you book your slot, we'll let you know about what you need a couple of days in advance) and a willingness to get a little entangled.
